An 1897 foundry converted to office, maker space and a public market hall, with the crane rails left where they are.
The problem
A heavy timber and riveted steel structure with no reliable drawings, and a historic tax credit application that required proving what was original.
What we did
A full-building laser scan documented the existing frame to millimetre accuracy and produced the measured drawings the tax credit application needed. Reinforcement was designed only where the scan showed it was actually required.
Outcome
Part 2 approval without conditions, and 84 percent of the original structural frame retained in place.
